The Edmonton Police confirmed that a man was killed and six others were wounded following a shooting at a community hall earlier this morning.
“At approximately 4 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, Southwest Division officers responded to the report of a shooting at a community hall in the area of 37 Avenue and 106 Street. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male in his 20s inside the hall,” the Edmonton Police said in a statement.
The statement further added that six other adult males were also injured during the incident and treated in hospital.
Three of the males experienced non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released, the Edmonton Police said, adding that three remain in hospital, two with non-life-threatening injuries and one in serious condition.
The Edmonton Police also added that Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation and a male suspect is currently in custody.
