10 residents displaced as fire impacts 3 homes in Calgary, perishing 2 pets


A fire swept through three homes in Northeast of Calgary, displacing ten residents and perishing two pets, according to a statement released by The City of Calgary.

“At approximately 2:20 this afternoon, Calgary 911 received several calls with reports of a house fire in the 200 block of Skyview Springs CR NE,” the statement said.

The statement further added “The Calgary Fire Department(CFD) was dispatched to the address and found a 2 storey home fully involved with smoke and fire. Crews quickly started a fire attack while checking for occupants of both the source home and exposed homes on either side.”

“Due to the wind velocity, aerial streams and large volume hose lines were required to protect the exposed homes and stop the spread of fire,” the statement siad, adding that ” 10 residents safely self evacuated prior to CFD arrival from the 3 impacted homes, unfortunately 2 cats did perish in the source home.”

According to the statement released by The City of Calgary, the source home suffered extensive damage and will be uninhabitable, the residents of the exposed homes will also be displaced until repairs can be completed.
