Alberta’s top doctor, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, announced Tuesday that an average of 8 deaths were reported daily due to COVID-19 since Friday.
Dr. Hinshaw further added that the Alberta Health also received report regarding the death of 14-year-old on Tuesday.
According to Dr. Hinshaw, the young teen had pre-existing medical conditions. “I’d like to be clear that this tragic outcome is incredibly rare for children. Unfortunately it can occur, particularly when an individual is experiencing other complex health considerations.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Hinshaw, said the Alberta Health identified 3,358 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday, including 1,085 cases on October 8, 1,039 cases on October 9, 628 cases on October 10, and 606 cases in the last 24 hours.
She also added that 1,053 people are being treated for COVID-19 in hospital, including 242 in Intensive Care Unit.
