2 COVID-19 related deaths, 572 new cases reported in New Brunswick


New Brunswick is reporting 572 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and two additional deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Currently, a total of 40 people are hospitalized in New Brunswick with COVID-19, including 24 in Intensive Care Unit.

Of those in hospital, 27 are over the age of 60 and 11 people are on a ventilator, the New Brunswick Government said in a statement. No one under 19 is currently hospitalized.

The statement further added that 140 of the new cases are in Zone 1 (Moncton region), 219 are in Zone 2 (Saint John region), 89 are in Zone 3 (Fredericton region), 46 are in Zone 4 (Edmundston region), eight are in Zone 5 (Campbellton region), 33 are in Zone 6 (Bathurst region) and 37 are in Zone 7 (Miramichi region).

A person 70-79 in Zone 2 (Saint John region) and a person 70-79 in Zone 3 (Fredericton region) have died as a result of COVID-19.

The New Brunswick Public Health reported today that 82.9 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, 90.1 per cent have received their first dose of a vaccine and 19.6 per cent have received a booster dose.
