20 more COVID-19 deaths reported in Alberta: Dr. Hinshaw

The Alberta Health on Wednesday reported 20 additional deaths due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

Alberta’s top doctor, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said 20 new COVID-19 related deaths were reported to the Alberta Health in the last 24 hours.

“Sadly, 20 new COVID-19 related deaths were reported to AB Health in the last 24hrs, ranging in age from <20 to >90. This is a sad reminder, that regardless of age, unvaccinated ABs are at higher risk of severe outcomes,” Dr. Hinshaw said in a statement posted online.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that the Alberta Health completed 14,500 tests in the last 24 hours and identified 1,336 new positive cases.

She also added that 1,040 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 910 people who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, 230 people are being treated in Intensive Care Units with 91.8% of them being unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
