The Pakistani Taliban militants killed five Pakistani soldiers during an attack in North Waziristan district.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistani military, confirmed that the militants attacked a vehicle of the security forces in Spinwam area.
The militants carried out the attack as an operation was underway in the area, killing four Frontier Corps soldiers and a Levies sub-inspector.
The attack was carried out a day after the militants killed a Pakistani army captain during an operation in Tank area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This comes as a local tribal elder in North Waziristan had earlier claimed that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has declared a 20-day ceasefire following a breakthrough in peace talks.
