Alberta identifies 7 additional cases of Omicron variant, bringing the total 30


The Alberta Health identified seven additional cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, bringing the total number of Omicron cases to 30.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said the Alberta Health identified 863 new cases of COVID-19 over a 3-day period.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that the authorities identified 202 new cases by completing around 4,200 tests in the last 24 hours.

She also added that 288 new cases were identified out of 6,500 tests on December 11, and 373 new cases were identified out of 8,600 tests on December 10.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, three additional deaths were also reported to Alberta Health services in the last 72 hours.

Currently, 365 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Alberta, Dr. Hinshaw said, adding that of the 297 non-ICU, 63.3 per cent are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

There are 68 individuals in Intensive Care with 75% of them being unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
