Alberta reports 1,166 new COVID-19 cases, 18 additional deaths in past 24 hours


The Alberta Health reported 1,166 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a period of 24 hours and 18 additional deaths.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, said the Alberta Health completed around 10,700 COVID-19 tests in the past 24 hours and identified 1,166 new positive cases.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, there are now 647 people in due to COVID-19 with 76.6% of them being unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that of the 147 in ICU, 89% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

She also added that 18 new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours.
