Alberta reports 139 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths in the past 3 days


The Alberta Health Services on Monday announced that 139 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus were identified in the past 3 days.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, said the Alberta Health identified 42 new cases by completing 3,900 tests.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, the Alberta Health identified 53 new cases on 3rd of July and 44 more cases were identified on 4th of July.

Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw said the positivity rate in Alberta is 1% and the Alberta Health identified 90 new Variant of Concern cases since July 1.

She also added that 136 people are currently being treated for the virus in the hospital and 132 of them are in Intensive Care Unit.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hinshaw said 2 additional deaths were reported in Alberta since the 2nd of July.

In regards to the vaccinations, Dr. Hinshaw said the Alberta Health has so far administered 4.5 million doses of the vaccines till date and 48% of the Albertans have received 2 doses of the vaccines.
