Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced the latest numbers this afternoon.
“Over the past 24 hours, we identified 1,434 new cases & completed about 11.9K tests,” Dr. Hinshaw tweeted.
She also added that nine new deaths related to COVID-19 were also reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours.
In regards to the hospitalizations, Dr. Hinshaw said there are now 822 people in hospital due to COVID-19. “Of the 610 non-ICU, 73.5% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. Of the 212 in ICU, 91% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.”
According to Dr. Hinshaw, 79.4% of eligible ABs are protected with at least 1 dose of vaccine and 71.3% have completed their series with 2 doses.
