Alberta reports 1,670 COVID-19 cases, 14 additional deaths in the last 24 hours


The Alberta Health on Friday announced that 1,670 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were identified in the last 24 hours.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said the Alberta Health completed 15,000 tests in the past 24 hours and identified 1,670 positive cases.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that 1,066 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 263 who are being treated in Intensive Care Units.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, 74.4% of the 803 non-ICU patients are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated while 90.1% of the 263 ICU patients are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

She also added that 14 additional deaths were reported to Alberta Health Services in the last 24 hours.
