Alberta reports 1,706 COVID-19 cases, 20 deaths in the past 24 hours


The Alberta reported 1,706 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 20 additional deaths in the past 24 hours.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said the Alberta Health identified 1,706 positive cases of COVID-19 by completing 17,600 tests over a 24-hour period.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that 20 additional deaths were also reported to Alberta Health Services in the last 24 hours, ranging in age from 24 to 97.

She also added that 1,083 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 263 people who are being treated in Intensive Care Unit.

Of the 820 non-ICU, 74.3% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, Dr. Hinshaw said, adding that 90.9% of 263 people in ICU are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
