Alberta reports 18 more deaths due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours

The Alberta Health on Tuesday reported that 18 more people died of the novel coronavirus (COVID-29) in the past 24 hours.

“Sadly, 18 deaths were reported in the last 24hrs. My condolences go to all who have lost someone during this very difficult time,” Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, tweeted.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, about about 72% of people who died in the last 120 days were not fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hinshaw, said the Alberta Health identified 1,246 new cases of COVID-19 after completing 11,000 tests in the last 24 hours.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that the positivity rate in Alberta was 11.5% and 1,100 people are hospitalized in the province due to COVID-19.

She also added that 79% of the people hospitalized due to COVID-19 are not fully vaccinated while 91% people receiving treatment in ICU, are not fully vaccinated.
