Alberta reports 26 more deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours


The Alberta Health on Wednesday reported 26 more deaths due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, said 26 new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours, with ages ranging from 22 to 94.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that 21 of the 26 individuals who died of the virus were unvaccinated.

Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw said the Alberta Health identified 1,263 new case of COVDI-19 by completing about 15,000 tests in the past 24 hours.

In regards to the hospitalizations, Dr. Hinshaw said 1,083 people are currently being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital, including 247 in Intensive Care Unit.

She also added of the 836 non-ICU, 73.7% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, while 90.2% of 247 of the patients being treated in ICU, are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
