Alberta reports 3,056 new COVID-19 cases, 7 additional deaths over 3 days


The Alberta Health Services reported 3,056 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 7 additional deaths over three days.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, said the Alberta Health identified 865 new cases of COVID-19 by completing 8,300 tests in the past 24 hours.

Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw said the Alberta Health identified 960 new cases by completing 9,500 tests on 28th of August.

She also added that the Alberta Health identified 1,231 new cases by completing 11,400 tests on 27th of August.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, seven additional deaths have also been reported since 26th of August.

There are currently 401 people in hospital due to COVID-19, Dr. Hinshaw said, adding that of the 303 non-ICU, 79.6% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and of the 98 in ICU, 94.2% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
