Alberta reports 333 new COVID-19 cases; Onicron cases rise to 19


Alberta is reporting 333 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deen Hinshaw, said around 10,000 tests were completed in the last 24 hours, resulting in 333 new positive cases.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that 19 total cases of the Omicron variant have been identified in Alberta till date

There has also been a possible case in an individual who attended an elementary school in Edmonton Zone while infectious, Dr. Hinshawnsaid, adding that this is not a confirmed Omicron case, but out of an abundance of caution, we have notified the school.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hinshaw, said 368 people are currently in hospital due to COVID-19.

Of the 298 non-ICU, 65.4% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, Dr. Hinshaw said, adding that of the 70 in ICU, 75.7% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

She also added that no new COVID-related deaths were reported to Alberta Health in the last 24hrs.
