Alberta reports 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period


Alberta is reporting 4,000 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health said.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw said the health authorities completed around 13,000 tests in the last 24 hours and identified around 4,000 new cases.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, the new cases bring the total of active cases in Alberta to about 21,000.

Currently, 323 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Alberta, Dr. Hinshaw said, adding that 48 people are being treated in ICU for COVID-19.

The Alberta Health on Wednesday reported around 2,800 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period.
