Alberta is reporting 422 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and eight additioal deaths over a 24-hour period.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Alberta, said the new cases were identified out of 8,300 tests which were completed in the past 24 hours.
According to Dr. Hinshaw, the positive rate in Alberta is about 5.1 percent.
Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw, said there are currently active alerts/outbreaks in 211 schools. Of these, 10 schools had 10 or more COVID cases who attended in the last 14 days while infectious.
She also added that 608 people in hospital due to COVID-19, including 128 in the ICU. “Sadly, despite declining case numbers, 8 new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours.”
The Alberta Health on Monday reported 284 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period.
