Alberta is reporting 6,789 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 15 additional deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Alberta, said the health authorities identified the new cases by completing around 17,815 tests.
Dr. Hinshaw further added that 15 additional deaths were also reported due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
There are now 748 people in hospital due to COVID-19, including 82 in Intensive Care Unit, Dr. Hinshaw added.
There was an increase of 40 in overall hospitalizations in the last 24 hours. There were 708 people in hospital due to COVID-19 as of Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
The Alberta Health on Tuesday reported 4,704 new cases of COVID-19 and eight additional deaths over a 24 hour period.
