Arrest made as part of a historic sexual assault investigation: Toronto Police


The Toronto Police announced Monday that have arrested a man as part of a historic sexual assault investigation.

“On Sunday, May 2, 2021, members of 41 Division began an investigation following two reports of sexual exploitation,” the Toronto Police said in a statement.

The statement further added that the police arrested the 21-year-old Faiaz Tahmid today and charged him with two counts of sexual assault.

According to Toronto Police, Tahmid allegedly assaulted a 19-year-old woman during a house party in the Midland Avenue and St Clair Avenue East area in June 2019.

Tahmid assaulted another woman, 19, in his apartment in the Keele Street and Steeles Avenue West area in December 2019.

“The victims did not know each other,” the Police said, adding that appeared in court virtually on Monday, May 31, 2021, at 10 a.m., at Toronto East Courts, 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, Room 412.
