Autopsy results confirm Aug. 24th suspicious death is a homicide: Edmonton Police


The Edmonton Police announced Wednesday that an autopsy conducted by the Edmonton Medical Examiner yesterday in connection to the Aug. 24th suspicious death of a 46-year-old city man has confirmed he died from a gunshot wound.

According to a statement released by Edmonton Police, autopsy results also determined the manner in which Byron Harvey, 46, died is a homicide.

“Northwest Division patrol members initially responded to a weapon’s complaint at approximately 12:40 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at a residence near 119 Avenue and 79 Street,” the Edmonton Police said, adding that upon arrival, EPS members discovered Harvey inside the residence. The 46-year-old male subsequently died in hospital shortly thereafter.

The Edmonton Police also added that the homicide detectives continue to investigate, urging the public to contact police at 780-423-4567 if they have information about the suspicious death.
