B.C. reports 457 COVID-19 cases and 2 more deaths in past 24 hours

B.C. is reporting 457 cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and two additional deaths within the last 24 hours.

The B.C. government in a statement said 176 of the new cases were identified in Fraser Health, 61 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 83 in Interior Health, 82 in Northern Health, and 55 in Island Health.

“In the past 24 hours, two new deaths have been reported in the Fraser Health and Northern Health regions, for an overall total of 2,131,” the statement added.

Currently, 390 individuals are hospitalized due to COVID-19 and 155 are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Unit.

The B.C. Government also added that people not fully vaccinated accounted for 64.1% of cases from Oct. 18-24. The unvaccinated individuals accounted 76.2% of hospitalizations from Oct. 11-24.

As of Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, 89.6% (4,155,181) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.5% (3,918,385) have received their second dose.
