B.C. reports 596 COVID-19 cases and 8 additional deaths


B.C. is reporting 596 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 8 additional deaths in the past 24 hours.

The Government of B.C. in a statement said 222 of the new cases were identified in Fraser Health, 115 in Interior Health,159 in Northern Health, 54 in Island Health, and 46 in Vancouver Coast Health.

The statement further added that the Fraser Health reported 3 deaths in the past 24 hours, Vancouver Coast Health two, and three deaths were reported in Northern Health.

The B.C. Government also added that there are currently 4,451 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 200,749 people who tested positive have recovered.

Of the active cases, 438 individuals are in hospital and 130 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

As of Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, 90.1% (4,176,649) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 85.6% (3,968,494) have received their second dose.
