B.C. reports 609 COVID-19 cases and 6 additional deaths


B.C. is reporting 609 cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and six additional deaths within the last 24 hours.

The B.C. government in a statement said 257 of the new cases were identified in Fraser Health, 79 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 92 in Interior Health, 126 in Northern Health, and 55 in Island Health.

“In the past 24 hours, six new deaths have been reported, for a total of 2,137,” the statement added.

Currently, 422 individuals are hospitalized due to COVID-19 and 157 are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Unit.

The B.C. Government also added that people not fully vaccinated accounted for 64.1% of cases from Oct. 12-25. The unvaccinated individuals accounted for 74.9% of hospitalizations from Oct. 12-25.

As of Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, 89.7% (4,157,816) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.7% (3,925,937) received their second dose.
