B.C. reports nearly 1,000 COVID-19 cases, 23 additional deaths over a 2-day period


B.C. is reporting 992 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 23 additional deaths over a two-day period.

The authorities identified 308 new cases in Fraser Health, 117 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 263 cases in Interior Health, 166 cases in Northern Health, and 138 cases in Island Health.

The Fraser Health reported 8 deaths in the past 48 hours, Vancouver Health 11 deaths, Interior Health 2 deaths, Northern Health one death, and Island Health one death.

There are currently 4,265 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 204,963 people who tested positive have recovered, the B.C. Government said in a statement.

The statement further added that of the active cases, 384 individuals are currently in hospital and 124 are in intensive care.

As of Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, 90.6% (4,198,575) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.5% (4,010,702) received their second dose.
