British PM Boris Johnson moved to intensive care as COVID-19 symptoms worsen


The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care unit in a London hospital where he is receiving medical care after his condition worsened over the course of Monday.

Mr. Johnson was admitted to St Thomas’ Hospital i London on Sunday evening with ‘persistent symptoms’ of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

A spokesperson for Prime Minister’s Office said he was shifted to hospital on the advice of his medial team.

He also added that Mr. Johnson has asked Dominic Raab, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom to deputise ‘where necessary’.

Mr. Johnson initially tested positive for the COVID-19 disease ten days ago after he was taken to hospital for routine tests. He had developed the symptoms for COVID-19 disease including high temperature and cough.

Earlier on Monday, Mr. Johnson had tweeted that “Last night, on the advice of my doctor, I went into hospital for some routine tests as I’m still experiencing coronavirus symptoms. I’m in good spirits and keeping in touch with my team, as we work together to fight this virus and keep everyone safe.”
