Calgary Police seeking a person of interest in connection with August homicide


The Calgary Police announced Tuesday that Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is currently seeking a person of interest in connection with the homicide of Michael Donald LLOYD.

“At approximately 2:15 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, police and EMS were called to an apartment in the 200 block of 6 Avenue S.E., to check on the welfare of an occupant,” the Calgary Police in a statement.

The statement further added that a man was found deceased within the apartment and it was apparent he had died several days before being discovered.

An autopsy confirmed the deceased as 42-year-old LLOYD, the Calgary Police said, adding that Steven Joseph READER, 27, is currently wanted on warrant for breach of probation and is considered a person of interest in the LLOYD homicide investigation.

The Calgary Police also added that READER is described as 6’ tall, 175 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a small cross tattoo under his right eye and one across his knuckles that reads “PUFF RYDA”.

According to Calgary Police, READER is believed to be staying in or around the Red Deer area.
