Canada expecting Pfizer-BioNTech submission regarding COVID-19 vaccine for younger children

Canada is expecting to receive a submission by Pfizer-BioNTech for the use of COVID-19 vaccine in younger children.

The Health Canada announced Thursday it expects to receive the submission within the coming weeks.

This comes as the U.S. FDA has already received a submission by Pfizer-BioNTech regarding the use of COIVD-19 vaccine in younger children.

“Health Canada is aware that the U.S. FDA has received a submission from Pfizer-BioNTech to allow the use of its Comirnaty Covid Vaccine in children 5 to 11 years old,” according to a statement released published online by Health Canada.

The Health Canada further added that it expects to receive a submission from Pfizer-BioNTech for the use of its COVID-19 vaccine in younger children in the coming weeks.

As with all COVID vaccines, Health Canada will review the data as soon as it is received, the statement added.
