Canada reports over 5,000 new COVID-19 positive cases, 45 deaths


The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) reported over 5,000 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest COVID-19 daily epidemiology update released by PHAC earlier this evening, at least 45 people died of the virus in five provinces during the same period.

Ontario once again topped the list of the daily epidemiology update by reporting 2,400 new positive cases.

Alberta reported 812 new positive cases, Quebec 662 new positive cases, Manitoba 603, British Columbia 357, Saskatchewan 146, Nova Scotia 65, New Brunswick 7, Newfoundland and Labrador 4, and Nunavut 2 new positive cases.

Meanwhile, Prince Edward Island did not provide any update on new cases and deaths while Yukon and Northwest Territories did not report any new case or death, according to PHAC.

Ontario reported 27 deaths, Quebec 8, Alberta 4 and British Columbia 3 new deaths.
