The Edmonton Police on Thursday issued a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of a man in connection with the homicide case of a woman in Edmonton.
According to Edmonton Police, the homicide detectives have identified Donny Nathan Meeches, 31, as the suspect in the homicide case of a 31-year-old woman who was murdered on Sunday, November 21, 2021.
“At approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, Northeast Division officers were called to the report of an injured female at a residence in the area of 139 Avenue and 35 Street,” the Edmonton Police said in a statement.
The statement further added that the officers located the female and provided first aid upon arrival; however, she succumbed to injuries at the scene.
The Edmonton Police also added that the cause of death is being withheld for investigative reasons. “As the woman’s 11-year-old son was present at the time of her death, her name is being withheld to protect his privacy during this difficult time.”
The suspect is described as an Indigenous male with brown eyes and black hair. He is 5’10” tall and weighs approximately 175 lbs pounds.
Meeches was last seen wearing dark pants, a white long sleeve top and a dark jacket and has several noticeable tattoos on his face, neck, arms and hands. He also reportedly has ties to Manitoba and British Columbia.
