China confirms world’s first human case of H10N3 bird flu


China has confirmed world’s first human case of H10N3 by identifying a 41-year-old man who contracted the infection in eastern Jiangsu province.

The National Health Commission of Beijing (NHC) announced Tuesday the 41-year-old man was diagnosed with H10N3 after he was admitted to hospital on 28th of April.

Without disclosing further information, NHC reported the man’s condition as stable and ready to be discharged from hospital.

According to NHC, an investigation was conducted to ascertain the spread of the infection to close contacts of the man but no other cases were found.

Meanwhile, NHC has said H10N3 is low pathogenic virus in poultry and has a very low risk to spread on a large scale.
