COVID-19: Alberta reports 1,256 new cases and 16 additional deaths


The Alberta Health reported 1,256 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 16 additional deaths on Friday.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health said the new cases were identified following the completion of 14,700 tests.

Dr. Hinshaw further added that 1,101 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 250 people being treated in Intensive Care Unit.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, 73.9% of the 851 non-ICU patients are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, while 89.6% of ICU patients are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hinshaw urged the Albertans to keep gatherings small over the Thanksgiving long weekend, and take advantage of mild weather to meet outdoors if possible.

The Alberta Health on Thursday reported 1,254 cases of COVID-19 and 13 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.
