The Alberta Health Services says it identified 315 new cases of COVID-19 and 9 additional deaths in the last 24 hours.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta, said the Alberta Health identified the new cases after completing around 7,500 tests.
Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw, said 691 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 159 people who are being treated in Intensive Care Unit.
According to Dr. Hinshaw, of the 532 in non-ICU, 73.8% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. Of the 159 in ICU, 88.6% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
“Sadly, 8 new deaths related to COVID-19 were also reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours,” Dr. Hinshaw said.
The Alberta Health on Monday reported 1,210 new cases of COVID-19 and 28 additional deaths over a 3-day period.
