COVID-19: Alberta reports 603 new cases and 9 additional deaths

The Alberta Health Services says it identified 603 new cases of COVID-19 and 9 additional deaths in the last 24 hours.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta, said the Alberta Health identified the new cases after completing around 10,500 tests.

Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw, said 765 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 180 people who are being treated in Intensive Care Unit.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, Of the 585 in non-ICU, 72.3% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. Of the 180 in ICU, 86.8% are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

“Sadly, 9 new deaths related to COVID-19 were also reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours,” Dr. Hinshaw said.

The Alberta Health on Thursday reported 531 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.
