COVID-19: Alberta reports 786 new cases and 18 additional deaths

The Alberta Health Services says it identified 786 new cases of COVID-19 and 18 additional deaths in the last 24 hours.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta, said the Alberta Health identified the new cases after completing around 12 100 tests.

Furthermore, Dr. Hinshaw, said 928 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 203 people who are being treated in Intensive Care Unit.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, 70.7% of 775 non-ICU COVID patients and 90.1% of 203 ICU patients are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

“Sadly, 18 new deaths related to COVID-19 were also reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours. Of these, 72% were unvaccinated. I extend my sincere condolences to all who are grieving a loved one today,” Dr. Hinshaw said.

The Alberta Health on Tuesday reported 531 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.
