COVID-19: Ontario reports 1,429 new cases and five additional deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,429 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

The Ontario Health also reported five additional deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Christine Elliott, Ontario’s Minister of Health, said 526 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated.

Elliott further added that 94 of the new cases were identified in individuals who have an unknown vaccination status.

She also added that 385 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 300 individuals who are not fully vaccinated, while 85 are fully vaccinated.

Currently, 162 individuals are in Intensive Care Unit for COVID-19, including 131 who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.

In Ontario, 24,584,089 vaccine doses of COVID-19 have been administered. 90.3% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 87.6% have two doses.
