COVID-19: Ontario reports 454 new cases, 9 additional deaths


The Ontario Health on Wednesday reported 441 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

Christine Elliott, Ontario’s Minister of Health, said the Ontario Health identified 249 cases in individuals who are unvaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.

Elliott further added that the remaining 205 cases were identified in fully vaccinated individuals.

Furthermore, Elliott reported a slight decrease in hospitalization in the past 24 hours.

According to Elliott, 243 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, with 182 of them being not fully vaccinated or having an unknown vaccination status, while 61 fully vaccinated.

She also added that 136 are being treated in Intensive Care Unit. 120 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 16 are fully vaccinated.

In Ontario, 22,652,266 vaccine doses have been administered. 88.5% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 85.2% have two doses.
