COVID-19: Ontario reports 492 new cases, 12 more deaths in past 24 hour

The Ontario Health on Friday reported 492 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

Christine Elliott, Ontario’s Minister of Health, said the Ontario Health identified 325 cases in individuals who are unvaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.

Elliott further added that 167 cases were identified in fully vaccinated individuals.

She also added that 261 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, 225 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 36 are fully vaccinated.

149 people are being treated in Intensive Care Unit. 128 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 21 are fully vaccinated.

In Ontario, 22,338,662 vaccine doses have been administered. 87.7% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 83.6% have two doses.

The Ontario Health also reported 12 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
