COVID-19: Saskatchewan reports 502 cases, 5 additional deaths

Saskatchewan is reporting 502 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 5 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.

“As of October 9th, there are 502 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 71,526 reported cases,” the Saskatchewan Government said in a statement.

22 of the new cases were identified in Far North West, 22 in Far North East, 63 in North West, 29 in North Central, 14 in North East, 124 in Saskatoon, 7 in Central West, 38 in Central East, 81 in Regina, 27 in South West, 9 in South Central, and 47 in South East zones.

As of October 8, a total of 332 individuals are hospitalized, including 254 inpatient hospitalizations, and 78 ICU hospitalizations.

Of the 332 patients, 253 (76.2%) were not fully vaccinated, the Government of Saskatchewan said.

Meanwhile, five new deaths reported today, the Saskatchewan Government said, adding that 746 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.0%.
