Kentucky governor Andy Beshear has told CNN that the authorities are working on an eight pages long list containing the names of missing persons in Dawson Springs only.

According to reports, at least 94 people have died following devastating tornadoes which hit six US states over the weekend.

At least 80 people have died in Kentucky only, including dozens in a candle factory.

President Joe Biden on Saturday approved the emergency declaration the Governor requested earlier that day, the Kentucky Government Office said in a statement.

The declaration orders federal assistance to help with local response efforts.

The Kentucky Governor also declared a state of emergency earlier on Saturday and activated over 180 Kentucky National Guard members as well as the Kentucky State Police.

The state also is using armories as places of refuge for Kentuckians in need of shelter.
