Edmonton Police issue arrest warrant in connection with May 21 hit-and-run death


The Edmonton Police announced Thursday they have issued an arrest warrant in connection with the May 21 hit-and-run death.

“Edmonton Police Service homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Michael Nicholas Kosch, 21, in connection to the May 21st death of Andrew McHatten during a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian collision,” the Edmonton Police said in a statement.

The statement furhter added that the Homicide Section investigators issued the arrest warrant for Kosch for failing to stop at an accident causing death.

The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m., Friday, May 21, 2021, in the area of 129 Avenue and 126 Street.

Paramedics performed life-saving measures on the 36-year-old McHatten, however he was pronounced deceased on scene. An autopsy concluded that the cause of death was a crushing injury to the chest.

Homicide investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Kosch, the Edmonton Police said, adding that he is known to drive a 2017 black Dodge Ram, Alberta licence plate CFY7146, and also has access to a 2007 silver Jeep Commander, Alberta licence plate BDK8624, and a 2001 black Jeep Cherokee, Alberta licence plate SRU900.
