Girl, 17, dies in a fatal collision in Toronto


A 17-year-old girl died in a fatal collision in Toronto on Tuesday.

“On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at approximately 11:45 a.m., officers responded to a collision at Danforth Avenue at Birchmount Road,” the Toronto Police said in a statement. 

The statement further added that a 17-year-old girl was reportedly crossing Danforth Avenue, going north, on the east side of Birchmount Road.

The e Caravan struck the girl by a 40-year-old woman who was driving a dark grey Dodge Caravan, while turning southbound from Birchmount Road to eastbound Danforth Avenue. 

She was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased, the Toronto Police said, adding that the investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, businesses and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.
