Manitoba reports 687 COVID-19 cases, 7 additional deaths since Monday


Manitoba is reporting 687 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and seven deaths due to the virus over a five-day period.

As of 9:30 a.m. today, 687 new cases of the virus have been identified since Monday, the Manitoba Government said in a statement.

The statement further added that the authorities identified 185 new cases on Tuesday, 143 cases on Wednesday, 166 cases on Thursday, and 193 cases on Saturday.

The Interlake-Eastern Health Region reported 57 new cases, Northern Health Region 53 cases, Prairie Mountain Health Region 82 new cases, Southern Health-Sante Sud Health Region 319 new cases, and Winnipeg Health Region 176 cases.

A male in his 50s, three males in their 70s, and a female in her 80s from Southern Health–Santé Sud health region died from the virus.

A male in his 60s and another male in his 80s died of the virus in Prairie Mountain Health Region.

The Manitoba Government also added that 145 Manitobans hospitalized with COVID-19 including 110 people with active COVID-19 as well as 35 people who are no longer infectious.

A total of 30 Manitoba patients receiving intensive care for COVID-19 including 23 people in intensive care units with active COVID-19 as well as seven people who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care.
