New Brunswick reports 139 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period

New Brunswick is reporting 139 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

The New Brunswick Government in a statement said 111 of the new cases are in Zone 1 (Moncton region), 90 are in Zone 2 (Saint John region), 46 are in Zone 3 (Fredericton region), nine are in Zone 4 (Edmundston region), eight are in Zone 5 (Campbellton region), 18 are in Zone 6 (Bathurst region) and 24 are in Zone 7 (Miramichi region).

The statement further added that to date, 147 cases have been confirmed to be the Omicron variant.

Currently, there are 13 people in intensive care and another 25 are in hospital for a total of 38 people hospitalized.

Of those in hospital, 22 are over the age of 60 and nine people are on a ventilator. No one under 19 is currently hospitalized.

The New Brunswick Public Health reported today that 82.8 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, 90 per cent have received their first dose of a vaccine and 18.4 per cent have received a booster dose.
