Newfoundland and Labrador reports 8 COVID-19 cases, 2 additional deaths


The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador on Monday that the health authorities have identified 8 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The authorities have identified one of the cases in Eastern Health region in an individual between 20-39 years of age, two cases in Central Health region, and five cases in Western Health region.

One of the cases in Western Health region is related to travel within Canada, while three cases are contacts of previous known cases and one case is under investigation.

“Newfoundland and Labrador is reporting its fourteenth and fifteenth deaths from COVID-19. There is one male from the Central Health region between 50-59 years of age and one female in the Central Health region 70 years of age and older,” according to a statement released by the government.

The statement further added that there are currently 47 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 15 in Eastern Health, 26 in Central Health, and 6 in Western Health.
