One COVID-19 related death, 349 new cases reported in Alberta


The Alberta Health on Friday reported 349 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and one additional death due to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health said the health authorities identified the 349 new cases after completing around 9,700 tests.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw said 395 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 and 78 people are being treated in Intensive Care Unit.

According to Dr. Hinshaw, 66.9 per cent of the 317 non-ICU COVID-19 patients are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, while 82 per cent in ICU are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

“Sadly, 1 new death related to COVID-19 was reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours,” she added.

The Alberta Health on Thursday reported 366 cases of COVID-19, including one Omicron variant of the virus over a 24-hour period.
