Ontario reports 10,450 new cases of COVID-19 and 40 additional deaths


The Ontario Health announced Sunday that the health authorities have identified 10,450 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said 3,595 people are currently in hospital due to COVID-19 in Ontario.

Elliott further added that 579 people are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Unit for COVID-19.

However, she said the numbers are not final as all hospitals do not report on weekends.

Meanwhile, the Ontario Health reported 40 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

In Ontario, 29,455,129 vaccine doses have been administered, with over 117,000 doses administered yesterday, Elliott said.

She also added that 91.4% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 88.7% have two doses.

The Ontario Health on Saturday reported 10,732 new cases of COVID-19 and 43 additional deaths over a 24 hour period.
