Ontario is reporting 1,053 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and eight additional deaths due to the virus over a 24-hour period.
Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said the authorities identified 494 cases in individuals who are not fully vaccinated.
Elliott further added that 60 cases were identified in individuals with an unknown vaccination status.
“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 23.4% of Ontario’s total population and amount to 494 of Ontario’s 1,053 new reported cases,” she said.
Meanwhile, Elliott, said 284 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, including 220 individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 64 are fully vaccinated.
She also added that 160 people are in ICU due to COVID-19. 136 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 24 are fully vaccinated.
In Ontario, 23,913,372 vaccine doses have been administered. 90.0% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 87.3% have two doses.
The Ontario Health on Friday reported 1,031 new cases of COVID-19 and 4 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.
