Ontario reports 11,899 COVID cases, 42 additional deaths on Friday


Ontario is reporting 11,899 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24 hour period.

The Ontario Health also reported 42 additional deaths due to COVID-19.

Provincial health minister, Christine Elliott, said 2,472 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Ontario.

Elliott further added that there are 338 people in ICU with COVID-19. 232 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 106 are fully vaccinated.

She also added that the seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 related patients in ICU is 271.

Meanwhile, Elliott, said in Ontario, 28,140,051 vaccine doses have been administered, with over 194,000 doses administered yesterday.

According to Elliott, 91.0% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 88.3% have two doses.

The Ontario Health on Thursday reported 13,339 new cases of COVID-19 and 20 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.
