Ontario reports 13,339 new cases and 20 deaths due to COVID-19


The health authorities in Ontario announced Thursday that they have identified 13,339 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Twenty additional deaths due to COVID-19 were also reported to Ontario Health in the last 24 hours.

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said 2,279 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Ontario.

There were 2,081 people in hospital due to COVID-19 as of Wednesday, January 5, 2022, including 288 in Intensive Care Unit.

Meanwhile, Elliott, said 319 people were in Intensive Care Unit for COVID-19 as of Thursday, January 6, 2022, including 232 individuals who are not fully.

She also added that the seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 related patients in ICU is 252.

The Ontario Health on Wednesday reported 11,582 new cases of COVID-19 and 13 additional deaths over a 24 hour period.
